Come on Australia - let's party!
Around 35,000 people enjoyed the party atmosphere on 25 January! Australia Day Live 08 brought together the Australian of the Year Awards with a celebrity concert featuring some of Australia’s hottest performers. Held on Australia Day Eve in our nation’s capital on the lawns in front of Parliament House, Australia Day Live 08 is a national tribute to Australia and being Australian.
The announcement of the Australian of the Year Awards – including the Australian of the Year, Young Australian of the Year, Senior Australian of the Year and Australia’s Local Hero – was publicly celebrated in front of a live audience of over 35,000 people and broadcast across the nation on Channel 9 and regional affiliates.
Following the award announcements, the national capital rocked to the sound of Australian music during a dazzling two hour FREE concert which celebrated the Australian spirit, sense of humour and our national pride.
